PURPOSE:To ensure desired acceleration performance, by enabling a device to stop phase control (retard angle control) action of the reference ignition timing on the basis of a knock signal, when an engine is in acceleration operation, by using a phase shaft stopping means controlled in accordance with an operative condition of the engine. CONSTITUTION:The captioned device has a comparator 6 which inputs an output signal from an acceleration sensor 1 through a frequency filter 2 and an analog gate 3. The comparator 6, comparing an output from the gate 3 with an output from a noise level detector 5 detecting a vibrative noise level except knocking from said output of the gate 3, outputs a knock detection pulse to a phase shifter 8 through an integrator 7. And the device, controlling a switching circuit 11 by an output of the phase shifter 8, interruptedly feeds power to an ignition coil 12. Here the device, interposing a phase shift stopping means 15 in a stage before the phase shifter 8, controls action of the phase shift stopping means 15 in accordance with an output from a load detector 14 inputting an output from a throttle opening sensor 13.
