A plastics container assembly has a tubular wall part 1 and a bottom end closure part 2 fitted thereto to form a base. One part carries a sealing flange 7 which overlies a face of the other part and an annular rib 8 on one part engages with an annular groove 5 in the other part. The internal junction between the closure part and the wall part presents a smoothly curved concave profile for facilitating complete removal of contents, e.g. paint. The parts may be permanently bonded together, eg as at 3a by adhesive or welding. The sealing flange may be provided internally on the wall part and may overlie wall 2a of the closure part or the flange may be external on the closure part to overlie the bottom end face of the wall part (Fig. 4), or both flanges may be provided.
