PURPOSE:To enhance printing speed and prevent printing quality from being lowered at the time of start-up, by providing a plurality of electrode layers sequentially stacked on one side of a substrate, heating resistors provided on an end face where the electrode layers are exposed,and a preheater. CONSTITUTION:An end part of the substrate 1 is cut, and the heating resistors 2 and the preheater 5 are provided on the end face where the electrode layers 3, 4, 6 are exposed, whereby the preheater 5 can be disposed in proximity to the resistors 2. Therefore, the period of time required for transfer of heat between the preheater 5 and the resistors 2 is shortened, and when the preheater 5 is driven in synchronism with printing pulses supplied to the resist ors 2, it is possible to reduce the width of the printing pulse by a thermal bias effect of the resistors 2, resulting in a higher printing speed. In addition, since the temperature of the substrate 1 can be quickly controlled, the temperature of the substrate 1 can be maintained at a constantly fixed temperature, and printing quality can be prevented from being lowered at the time of start-up. |
