PURPOSE:To provide the titled cermet and the titled wire having excellent bending strength and small specific gravity by forming the same of a specific weight ratio each of a hard phase composed of TiC and N expressed by the specific chemical formula and binder phase composed of a prescribed weight ratio of Fe and Ni. CONSTITUTION:This cermet for the wire dot printer is constituted of 60-95wt% hard phase expressed by the chemical formula TiCxN1-x (0.1<=x<=0.95) and 5-40wt% binder phase consisting of Fe and Ni at 1.0-4.0 weight ratio (Fe/Ni). This wire for the dot printer is formed of such cermet. The cermet of this invention and the wire consisting thereof has the substantial bending strength, excellent wear resistance and small, specific gravity and has therefore the many effects including the extended life of the dot printer, the higher speed thereof, etc. The examples of the above-mentioned cermet and wire (* mark) are tabulated.
