PURPOSE:To optimize rolls with respect to products and to improve the dimensional accuracy of the products by constructing a one-side housing which supports upper and lower rolls with a pair of driving side and operation side housings facing each other in such a manner that said housing can be shifted in the roll axial direction. CONSTITUTION:The upper roll 3 and lower roll 4 which constitute the work rolls of a rolling mill 5 are supported by the driving side housing 1 and the operation side housing 2. The driving side housing 1 is installed and fixed immovably. The other one-side housing 2 is installed freely movably in the roll axial direction by a suitable means, for example, an operating cylinder or screw driving system, etc. The rolls are changed to the upper and lower rolls 6, 7 of the optimum roll body length according to the product to be produced and the kind and size thereof in the stage of rolling. The roll type is applicable to any including horizontal two high mill, three high mill, four high mill, six high mill and universal types. The dimensional accuracy of the product is thus improved and the productivity is improved as well. |
