PURPOSE:To perform proper control of engine operation thus to lower the fuel consumption performance by providing switching means for feeding another setting level as the acceleration operating level to control means upon detection of abnormality in accelerating operation detecting means. CONSTITUTION:Abnormality detecting means (f) will decide whether the results detected through accelerating operation detecting means (c) is within specific range thus to detect the abnormality of said means (c). Upon detection of abnormality in accelerating operation through the abnormality detecting means (f), said means (c) is switched to setting means (g) which is normally used for setting of other operating level thus to provide the setting level of said means (g) as the acceleration operating level to control means (e). Consequently, proper operational control of Diesel engine (a) can be achieved resulting in prevention of deterioration of fuel consumption performance.
