PURPOSE:To obtain a charge providing material attaining the proper electrostatic charging of a toner, withstanding friction with the toner and having superior durability by holding a specified organotin compound on the surface of a charge providing material such as a carrier for providing electric charges to a toner which develops an electrostatic charge image. CONSTITUTION:An organotin compound represented by the formula (where R is 1-24C alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl or aralkyl and R' is 1-12C alkylene) or the compound and a resin binder are dissolved in an org. solvent such as methyl ethyl ketone. A charge providing material such as carrier particles, a cylindrical sleeve or a doctor blade for providing electric charges to a toner is dipped in the resulting soln., and the solvent is removed by evaporation to hold the organotin compound on the surface of the charge providing material. Thus, a charge providing material having superior durability as well as superior charge providing power is obtd. The charge providing material is suitable for the electrostatic charging of a color toner giving an image having superior fine-line reproducibility. |
