PURPOSE:To keep the whole of an optical fiber perfectly round to prevent the degradation in the optical transmission capacity by using a cylinder body encasing sectional cylinders into which individual plastic optical fibers are fitted and expanding individual plastic optical fibers fitted into sectional cylinders by heating and sticking them. CONSTITUTION:A cylinder body 2 and two optical fibers are prepared, and protective layers 12 in front end parts of optical fibers 1 are removed, and optical fibers are inserted to the cylinder body 2 from an insertion side Y, and front ends are placed in an effective face side X. An adhesive is charged to an insertion hole 22 on demand to fix them. Front ends are heated from the effective face side X by, for example, a flame to expand optical fibers 1 in the diametral direction, and they are stuck. Thus, front ends of optical fibers 1 have smooth curved surfaces 13, and the polishing effect is displayed simultaneously, and the optical fiber keeps practically the roundness as the whole. |
