PURPOSE:To sufficiently guide reflected luminous flux into a sensor head, by exposing the cores of light emitting and receiving optical plastic fibers in the vicinity of the end parts thereof to partially remove the same and allowing the mutual removed surfaces and the end surfaces thereof to coincide to mold the circumference thereof by a resin. CONSTITUTION:The cores of a light emitting optical plastic fiber 1 and a light receiving optical plastic fiber 2 are exposed in the vicinity of the end parts of both fibers 1, 2 and a part of the side surfaces of said cores are removed. The mutually removed surfaces of the exposed cores and the end surfaces thereof are allowed to coincide to each other in a protective tube 6 and further molded by a molding grade resin 5 having a refractive index lower than that of each core so as to allow said end surfaces to coincide with the leading end of the protective tube 6. By this method, the luminous flux from a light emitting element 3 is propagated through the contact surfaces of the cores and guided to the leading end surface in such a state that the bonded part is like one fiber while reflected luminous flux is received by the same end surface to be guided to a light receiving element 4. |
