PURPOSE:To obtain a charge providing material providing proper negative charges to a toner and having superior durability by holding a specified substituted phenylenediamine on at least the surface of a charge providing material such as a carrier for providing electric charges to a toner in an electrophotographic process. CONSTITUTION:Substituted phenylenediamine represented by the formula (where each of R and R' is alkyl, acyl, halogen or NO2, but R and/or R' may not be present) or the compound and a resin binder are dissolved in an org. solvent. A charge providing material such as carrier particles, a cylindrical sleeve or a doctor blade for providing electric charges to a toner is dipped in the resulting soln., and the solvent is removed by evaporation to hold the substituted phenylenediamine on at least the surface of the charge providing material. Thus, deterioration in the charge providing property is reduced even after repeated use, and an excellent color image is always obtd. |
