PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for a balancer, thereby reduce the weight and size of a printer, reduce failures and thereby enhance reliability, by a construction wherein a hammer bank with a large weight is fixed, whereas a printing paper is brought into a shuttle motion together with a fitting mechanism therefor. CONSTITUTION:When a shuttle motor 10 is rotated, a printing paper 3 engaged with a tractor 24 provided on a shuttle frame 4 makes contact with a platen 22, is slidden in the axial direction of the platen 22, and is brought into transverse shuttle motion while being located adjacent to the hammer bank 2. For example, when the paper 3 is moved from the right to the left, a multiplicity of dot hammers of the hammer bank 2 are driven to print one dot line on the paper 3. With a paper-feeding motor 20 rotated, the paper 3 engaged with the tractor 24 is moved in a direction perpendicular to the dot line while being located adjacently to the hammer bank 2 at the position of the platen 2. Thus, by driving the motor 20 by pulses, minute feeding of the paper 3 is repeated by a one-dot-line spacing at a time through a paper-feeding mechanism 31. |
