Vortex pump impeller e.g. for sewage, sludge or paper pulp

The impeller (2) is particularly intended for a vortex flow pump with an axial inlet (1) at a distance from the impeller and radial outlet (3). It comprises one or more straight or curved (e.g. spiral) blades (5) which extend in radial directions and have their edges facing the inlet provided with flanges (4) at right angles to the blade surface. The flanges may be arranged on the leading and/or trailing sides of the blades. The distance between each flange and the adjacent blade pref. increases in the outward direction.
