PURPOSE:To reduce the weight of an optical head and to eliminate the undesired resonance of the optical head by omitting the need to shift both the head and an electromagnet in a body. CONSTITUTION:The shift stages 4 and 7 are provided separately from each other to move the electromagnets 20 which are opposite to each other centering on an optical head 3 and a photomagnetic disk 22 in the radium direction of the disk 22 respectively. Then the positions of both stages 4 and 7 are controlled so that the head 3 and the magnets 20 are always set at the same positions centering on the disk 22 when the information signal is recorded. Thus laser beam can be irradiated on an optional point on the disk 22 from the head 3 without forming the head 3 and the magnet 20 in a body. Furthermore the magnetic fields are supplied simultaneously form both magnets 20 for information recording.
