PURPOSE:To polish the surface of different drum face by facing the magnetic pole faces of a pair of magnetic poles through uniform gap against the coarse machining face of work while providing projections/recesses onto the magnetic pole face for the purpose of flux concentration. CONSTITUTION:D.C. magnetic field is constituted while employing the magnetic pole 3 as N-pole and the magnetic pole 7 as S-pole. Then a magnetic field phiis produced between the gaps 4, 5 and magnetic abrasive grains are thrown into said gaps thereafter a chuck 2 is rotated thus to rotate a work 1. Since the magnetic pole faces 3a, 3b and 7a are projected/recessed, the magnetic flux will concentrate to one or the other side of different drum face 1a of work and the magnetic field phi will firmly hold the magnetic abrasive grains against the rotation of work. The different drum face 1a is polished uniformly through friction between the magnetic abrasive grains held in the magnetic field and the different drum face of rotating work. |
