PURPOSE:To apply the titled system to a hierarchical data transmission system by providing the 1st step sending data from a data processor to a gate way, the 2nd step sending data from a gate way to another gate way and the 3rd step sending data from the gate way to the data processor. CONSTITUTION:A data transmission request is issued to a low-hierarchy terminal station Ski making a call from a data processor Hki of a step 1, block data is sent to a low-hierarchy terminal station Sko and the 1st reception data is sent to a gate way GWk. In the 2nd step, the 1st reception data subjected to protocol conversion is sent from the gate way GWk to a calling high-hierarchy terminal station MSk and the 2nd reception data sent to the high-hierarchy terminal station MSL is supplied to a gate way GWL. In the 3rd step, the 2nd reception data subjected to protocol conversion from the data way GWL is supplied to the low-hierarchy terminal station SLO, sent to the reception low- hierarchy terminal station SLj, and the 3rd reception data is supplied to the data processor HSLj. Thus, the data is sent from the data processor HSLi to the data processor HSki.
