PURPOSE:To make it possible to prepare machining program editting on the screen of a CRT by providing a numerical control device with an input means to a display screen and a light pen controller determining a machining shape according to a directed shape or position. CONSTITUTION:A CPU 1 is input the information from a main memory 2 and also the information from a CRT light pen controller 8. The controller 8 is input the data from a light pen 13 through light pen interface 14 and also outputs data to a refresh memory 4. A synchronized signal timing section 12 makes spots repeatedly on the fluorescent screen of a CRT 6 with electronic beams. And the light pen 13 is brought into contact with a required point to detect a spot. This detected light signal is transmitted through interface 14 to the controller 8, which operates the position of an electronic beam at the moment of receiving the detected light signal and detects the pen position preparing a machining program.
