PURPOSE:To shorten the access time to a spare track from a magnetic head by scattering plural spare tracks to the desired positions while the data tracks are arrayed. CONSTITUTION:The conventional data tracks T1-Tn are also used partly as spare tracks. Then spare tracks S1-Sl (1<=l<=m) are provided at the position between most inner and outer circumference sides of a data zone 2. In other words, the data tracks T1-Tk are arrayed toward the inner circumference side from the most outer circumference 2b of the zone 2. Then the gathering U1 of space tracks S1-Sl and then the gathering U2 of spare tracks SK+1-Sm are arrayed toward the most inner circumference 2a of the zone 2.
