PURPOSE:To obtain Al bronze having superior wear and seizing resistances and suitable for use as a material for a worm wheel by adding specified percentages of Al, Fe, Si and Ni to Cu and specifying the weight ratio between Fe and Si. CONSTITUTION:An alloy consisting of, by weight, 4-12% Al, 1-10% Fe, 0.2-3% Si, 1-7% Ni and the balance essentially Cu and having <=6 weight ratio of Fe/Si is manufactured. When a worm wheel is made of the alloy, load corresponding to about 150-200% of load put on a worm wheel made of conventional phosphor bronze or aluminum bronze can be put on the resulting worm wheel.
