The present invention relates to an independent wheel suspension device comprising a lower control lever 14, one end of which is pivotably connected to a vehicle chassis 11 and the other end of which is pivotably connected to an assembly forming a steering stub axle 22, and a thrust rod 40, one end of which is connected to the said vehicle chassis and the other end of which is connected rigidly to the said lower control lever. The said thrust rod has an elongate section in a vertical direction in order to have suitable flexibility in a transverse direction and also sufficient rigidity and strength in a vertical direction. <IMAGE>
