The invention relates to a device for observing a liquid, by means of transparency, with high magnification. This device comprises a tube 1 made from opaque material, divided axially into a plurality of compartments by at least one opaque transverse disc 7 pierced axially by a small hole 8, a light source 3 arranged at one of the ends of this tube, which sends, to its other end, through the abovementioned small hole 8, a naturally diffracted light beam, and an opaque cover 4 shutting off the said other end of the tube and pierced axially by a very small hole 5, the edges of which serve as a seat for a small volume of the liquid to be observed, which is in the form of a membrane stretched across this centrally thinned hole. <IMAGE>
