PURPOSE:To obtain a capsular polysaccharide in high yield, by culturing a capsular polysaccharide-producing microorganism originated from kefir particle in a specific nutrient medium. CONSTITUTION:A capsular polysaccharide-producing microbial strain originated from kefir particle (e.g. capsular polysaccharide-producing Lactobacillus WT-1) is cultured in a medium (WWGGT-2 medium) composed of milk whey-2, glucose, galactose, trypticase peptone, polyoxyethylene sorbitan monooleate and wine. The production of a polysaccharide effective to promote the digestive function and having antitumor activity is accelerated and the capsular polysaccharide can be produced in a mass in high yield. |
