PURPOSE:To obtain an optical disk having low noise by executing the crystallization treatment of a recording layer for recording information by using the change of the reflectivity between crystal and crystal while applying an ultrasonic oscillation to a substrate formed with the recording layer and heating the substrate. CONSTITUTION:Many disks 8 each formed by forming the recording layer on the transparent substrate 6 consisting of, for example, PMMA, etc. by a vapor deposition method for two elements Te and Sn and providing further an SiO2 protective film thereon are prepd. PZT piezo-electric elements 10 are placed via metallic sheets 9 consisting of a stainless steel, etc. and the disks 8 are placed thereon via the sheets 9 by which the disks are laminated and thereafter the entire part is fixed by holders. The entire part is put in this state into a thermostatic bath and is heated for about 1hr at 120 deg.C while the ultrasonic oscillation is applied thereto at about 2MHz oscillation frequency. The recording layer 7 of the disk crystallized in the above-mentioned manner is distributed uniformly with the fine crystals having about 200-1,000Angstrom grain size and is free from unevenness. The noise in the stage of reading is decreased with such optical disk and the performance of the optical disk is improved.
