Method for securing enclosed spaces or fenced-off free areas against entry by unauthorised persons, in which, when an optical and/or acoustic alarm signal is triggered off, the intruder is specifically subjected to an anaesthetic the action of which is limited in time and space and which anaesthetises him and makes him incapable of action, without seriously harming him however, until the simultaneously alerted police arrive.
