A styrenic copolymer composition having increased resistance to heat, markedly improved impact resistance and excellent processability for injection molding, extrusion, thermal formability and the like is made by a process having unexpectedly low energy consumption, comprising the polymerization of a vinyl aromatic monomer and an ethylenically unsaturated dicarboxylic acid moiety, to form a nonequimolar copolymer of preferably 70 - 98% by weight vinyl aromatic monomer and 2 - 3% by weight dicarboxylic acid moiety, in the presence of at least two different rubbery additives wherein preferably one is high diene rubbery additive and the other is a high vinyl aromatic rubbery additive comprising 40 - 95% by weight vinyl aromatic monomer and 5 - 60% by weight conjugated diene, the two additives forming preferably 7 to 40% by weight of the final composition. |
