<p>PURPOSE:To obviate the generation of casting defects and to make inconspicuous the trace of sprues by holding a casting mold in the state in which a product, i.e., intake manihold, is turned upside down from the mounting state thereof and providing pouring ports near the uppermost part of the intake pipeline forming part thereof and mounting flange forming part thereof. CONSTITUTION:The casting mold 20 is formed of a master mold 25 which is a metallic mold divided to a cope 21, a drag 22, side molds 23, shell 24, etc. and a sand core 26. The horizontal part 28b of the pipeline forming part 28 forming the horizontal part of the intake pipeline extends approximately horizontally and the vertical part 28a forming the vertical part extends downward from the end thereof. The casting mold is held in the state in which a chamber forming part 27 is positioned to the bottom end of said vertical part, i.e., in the state of casting the intake manihold which is turned upside down from the mounting state. The sprue 30 is provided to the part constituting the uppermost curved part of the vertical part 28a. The sprue 31 opening to the entire surface of the part 29 is so provided as to extend in the extending direction thereof. A molten metal is poured from both sprues 30, 31 and the inclination of the mold 20 is adequately changed so that the molten metal is spread uniformly to all parts.</p> |
