A suction gun for monofilaments, tapes and other threads is equipped with a suction pipe 2 connectable to a compressed-air source and having an injector effect and possesses an air-permeable container at the rear end 6 of the suction pipe 2 for receiving the sucked-off thread. Provided in the region of the front end 5 of the suction pipe 2 is a thread catcher 12 which has a hook 14 for the engagement of the thread and which is mounted movably relative to the front end 5 of the suction pipe 2. <IMAGE>
