PURPOSE:To obtain characteristics high in sensitivity and contrast and small in amt. of black spots and effective for reproducing a dot image and a line image by using a combination of a silver halide emulsion obtained by adding an oxidizing agent at the time of preparation of the emulsion and at least one of specified hydrazine derivatives. CONSTITUTION:The silver halide emulsion layer is prepared by adding the oxidizing agent, e.g., an inorg. compd., such as H2O2, aqueous H2O2, or its adduct, or chromate, and an org. compd., such as org. peroxide, to silver halide grains before a ripening step, and the emulsion layer or another hydrophilic colloidal layer contains the hydrazine derivative, such as one having sulfinyl group or a compd. represented by formula (I) in which R1 is an aliphatic group or an aromatic group. It is preferred to add the hydrazine derivative to the silver halide emulsion layer, but otherwise, it may be added to one of other nonphotosensitive hydrophilic colloidal layer. |
