ACIDIC GAS-RESISTANT PREMIXED POLYESTER MOLDING COMPOUND

PURPOSE:To improve the acidic gas resistance without detriment to the excellent mechanical performance inherent to moldings obtd. from conventional premixed polyester molding compounds, by blending a filler mainly composed of metakaolin and glass fiber with an unsaturated polyester resin in a specified ratio. CONSTITUTION:A molding compound for an insulator for electronic and electri cal apparatuses contains an unsaturated polyester resin (a), a filler (b) mainly composed of metakaolin (Al2O3.2SiO2) having a rough particle size of 4-10mum and glass fiber (c). The blending ratio is a:b:c=30-35:45-55:15-25. The filler can be obtd. by heating kaolin clay such as kaolinite or halloysite at 450-600 deg.C.
