OPTICAL MULTIPLEXER AND DEMULTIPLEXER

PURPOSE:To make possible the correction of the deviation in a condensing position by wavelengths arising from the chromatic aberration of a lens by slanting at least the top end of an optical fiber array. CONSTITUTION:The optical fiber array 6 is an optical fiber array arrayed and fixed with optical fibers 7a-7c and the top end face thereof is slanted. The array is fixed to a rod lens 1 in such a manner that the slanted top end face faces the lens and that the optical axes thereof are aligned to each other. The light of the wavelength lambda1 emitted from the fiber 7a is made incident on the fiber 7b and the light of the wavelength lambda2 is made incident on the fiber 7c to constitute the optical demultiplexer. The optical demultiplexer is constituted when the light passes the reverse route. The spacing between the fibers 7b and 7c designated as (d), the angle of inclination at the top end of the array 6 as theta and the difference between the condensing positions of the light of the wavelength lambda1 and the light of the wavelength lambda2 (lambda1(s'/d), by which the deviation of the condensing positions of the light of the wavelength lambda1 and the light of the wavelength lambda2 is corrected.
