PURPOSE:To prevent a transparent body from peeling and to prevent a cathode- ray tube from breaking owing to the expansion of the transparent body by cutting a projection lens away from a lens specular surface and forming a gap, forming a groove for sealing and applying a black paint, and then mounting a sealing material. CONSTITUTION:When a groove 12 for sealing is cut in an input lens 3, the height of the sealing material 5 becomes larger the gap between the input lens and cathode-ray tube at any time. Therefore, the depth of the groove 12 for sealing is varied properly to suppress the sealing repulsive force of the sealing material 5 within a limited range when the gap between the input lens and cathode-ray tube is narrow. Consequently, even if silicone gel 6 contracts at low temperatures, the input lens 3 is prevented from being slid with the repulsive force and the silicone gel 6 separates from neither the incidence surface 11 of the input lens 3 nor the surface of the cathode-ray tube 1. Further, the black paint is applied in the groove 12 for sealing to prevent light from being reflected and also prevent the contrast from deteriorating.
