PURPOSE:To impart reactivation effect at low temp., in the reactivation treatment of an activated carbon-copper compound type adsorbent used in the adsorption and desorption of CO and unsaturated hydrocarbon, by performing the contact treatment of said adsorbent by gas containing sulfur dioxide at specific concn. or more but containing no oxygen. CONSTITUTION:In the reactivation treatment of an activated carbon-copper compound type adsorbent, said adsorbent is subjected to contact treatment by gas containing 50ppm or more, pref., 1,000ppm or more of sulfur dioxide but containing no oxygen. Because reactivation can be performed at temp. of ambient temp. - about 150 deg.C lower than conventional one by this method, this method is extremely advantageous from an industrial aspect. Further, the temporarily deactivated adsorbent restores adsorbing capacity by the reducing action of sulfur dioxide and the adsorbent receiving contact treatment by sulfur dioxide is suppressed or prevented from the deterioration of adsorbing capacity. |
