PURPOSE:To provide a thermal recording material having excellent preservability and high color forming property, by microencapsulating at least one of a diazo compound and a coupling component together with a specified organic solvent. CONSTITUTION:To form microcapsules, a diazo compound or a coupling component to be microencapsulated is dissolved in a specified organic solvent, the solution is emulsified in water, and microcapsule walls are formed around liquid droplets by polymerization. The organic solvent is a compound of the formula, and is particularly preferably diphenylcresyl phosphate. In microencapsulation, 2-50pts.wt. of the solvent and 1-50pts.wt of the diazo compound or the coupling component are used per 24pts.wt. of the microcapsule wall material. The diazo compound is a diazonium salt of general formula: ArN2<+>X<->, wherein Ar is aromatic moiety, N2<+> is diazonium group, and X<-> is acid anion. |
