PURPOSE:The titled highly active Ziegler type catalyst component, consisting of a contact product of a component obtained by bringing the surface of particles of a contact product of plural kinds of metallic compounds into contact with an alcoholic compound, acid halide compound and liquid titanium compound and having a specific particle diameter. CONSTITUTION:A catalyst component, consisting of a particulate material of a contact product of (A) a component obtained by bringing the surface thin layer of particles of a contact product of (i) a magnesium halide compound, e.g. MgCl2, and (ii) an alkoxy group-containing compound of a metal selected from Groups I-IV of the periodic table, preferably tetraalkoxytitanium or tetraalkoxysilane, into contact with (iii) an alcoholic compound, preferably 1-10C alcohol, (B) an acid halide compound, e.g. ortho-C6H4(COCl)2, and (C) a liquid titanium compound, e.g. TiCl4 and having 10-100mu average particle diameter.
