PURPOSE:To enable types to be set by fitting and detaching a pressing rod and facilitate a type-replacing work, by providing a spring for energizing a type-pressing rod toward a type disposed in a groove, and an engaging member for supporting the rod at a position away from the type in the groove. CONSTITUTION:The pressing rod 10 is fitted with a compression spring 14 between it and a bracket 9, whereby the tip thereof is pressed against a groove 2 of a type holder 1. The tip of the rod 10 holds, by pressing, a type set in the type-holding groove 2. When the rod 10 is pulled leftward and is turned 90 deg. about the axis thereof, a projection 13 of an engaging part 11 comes into contact with the bracket 9, as indicated by broken lines, to hold the rod 10 at the position of being drawn out leftward. The tip part of the rod 10 is drawn out from the groove 2, so that a type can be freely placed into and out of the groove 2. In this condition, a type or types for printing a data or the like are set into the groove 2.
