PURPOSE:To obtain an electrophotographic sensitive body enhanced in carrier generating or transfer efficiency and superior in sensitivity and potential stability even at the time of repeated uses by using a specified azo pigment for a photosensitive layer. CONSTITUTION:The photosensitive layer of the electrophotographic sensitive body, especially, the charge generating layer of that of a functionally separated type composed of the charge generating layer and a charge transfer layer contains one of the azo pigments represented by the formula shown on the right in which R1 is alkyl, H, or halogen; R2 is alkyl, alkoxy, CN, NO2, or halogen; Ar1, Ar2 are each an arylene or divalent heterocyclic group; A is a coupler residue having a phenolic OH group; J is O, S, or N-B; and B is H, alkyl, aralkyl, aryl, or acyl, thus permitting the obtained photosensitive body to be superior in sensitivity and durability and capable of forming a stable and beautiful image adapted to a high-speed copying machine, a laser beam printer, and the like. |
