PURPOSE:To obtain a signal with less noise by providing a shutter means onto each photoelectric converting section so as to control a time incident on each photoelectric converting section at every color light thereby extending a dynamic range. CONSTITUTION:A liquid crystal optical shutter 12 is driven via a driver 13 to apply a voltage to each optical modulation pickcell 12a, which is changed into a transparent state. After the transparent state, red/green/blue lights transmitted therethrough are incident on the photoelectric converting sections R, G, B, where any of red/blue/green filters is fitted respectively, then the color light which is the same color as the filter is subjected to photoelectric conversion and the obtained signal charge is stored. When the electric charge storage time (longest) of a color elapses, a driver 11 activates a vertical scanning shift register and a horizontal scanning shift register in high speed to read the signal charge stored in the photoelectric converting section R, G, B as a time series signal.
