PURPOSE:To enable heat-resistant pulse characteristics to be improved and satisfactory half-one recording to be performed without necessity of complicated pattern procesing by forming a thermal resistor having the shorter length of a heating element in the center than that of other parts. CONSTITUTION:A film is formed by magnetron sputtering using FeSi alloy as thermal resistor material. Then a Cr-Cu double layer electrode is formed in the shape of film on the FeSi resistor film 31 by sputtering, and a thermal head having a constituted pattern such as short center of thermal resistor and pedestal-shaped protrusion for minimization of resistance value as an electrode pattern of a feeder conductor 32 is formed. When a pattern voltage is applied to the above-mentioned thermal resistor 31, the resistance value of the center increases, although the temperature of the center having a low resistance value rises rapidly, because the thermal resistor is a material having a positive resistance temperature coefficient. Thus it is possible to perform half-tone recording by controlling pulse application time and at the same time, and to improve heat-resistance pulse characteristics. |
