PURPOSE:To carry out the separation and purification of a silicon compound having lower chlorination degree from a mixture of organic silicon compounds containing chlorinated organic silicon compound, surely by a simple method, by distilling the mixture in the presence of an aprotic polar solvent and an alkylene oxide compound. CONSTITUTION:A mixture of organic silicon compound containing at least one kind of chlorinated organic silicon compound such as the compound of formula I (R<1> is methyl or ethyl; R<2> is aliphatic hydrocarbon group, aromatic hydrocarbon group, etc.; a is 1, 2 or 3; m is integer of 1-7; m+n<=2a+2) (e.g. methylphenyldichlorosilane) is added with preferably 1-50mol% aproatic polar solvent (e.g. DMF) and iotamol of an alkylene oxide compound of formula II (R is H, alkyl or halogen) (e.g. propylene oxide) based on the silicon compound having higher chlorination degree and is distilled to effect the separation of the organic silicon compound having lower chlorination degree from the above mixture.
