PURPOSE:To eliminate the effect of scattered dust for an optical character reader by sealing up a light emitting source, a focusing light transmitter array and a tight sensor into an outer wall. CONSTITUTION:A photoelectric converting mechanism 11 contains two light emitting diodes 17, a focusing light transmitter array 18 and a tight sensor 19 put into a sealed-up case formed with an optical glass 22, an outer wall structure 21 and a tight sensor attachment plate 20. The structure 21uses a metal having high heat conductivity and contains a cooling fin 23 to increase the surface area. An original is set with its character surface side facing the glass 22 and the characters on the original are irradiated by light of the diode 17. The reflected light of the original is condensed on the sensor 19 by the array 18. The sensor 19 detects the difference between white and black reflected light quantities on the original and sends this difference signal to a signal amplifier 12 as an output signal. |
