PURPOSE:To correct properly variation in offset due to variation in storage time by varying the storage time, frame by frame, according to the quantity of incident light. CONSTITUTION:The output of a two-dimensional solid-state image pickup element 1 is inputted to an A/D converter 3 through an amplifier 2 and converted into digital data. A subtracter 4 removes the offset and a divider corrects variance in sensitivity to uniform the data. In this case, offset correcting data is stored in an offset memory 6 and an offset memory 7 and sensitivity correcting data, on the other hand, is stored in a gain memory 8 and a gain memory 9; and they are selected and read out by a multiplexer 10 or 11 according to the storage time during image pickup operation. The data after the offset and sensitivity are corrected is inputted to a frame memory 12 and a frame memory 13 alternately, read out to a D/A converter 14 alternately according to TV display timing,and displayed on a CRT 15.
