PURPOSE:To manufacture a high purity alloy by low heat energy by bringing dissimilar metals or alloys into contact with each other at a temp. lower than their melting points and by melting these metals or alloys together by use of heat generated at the contacting part. CONSTITUTION:Two or more kinds of dissimilar metals or alloys are brought into contact with each other at a temp. lower than the respective melting points of the metals or alloys, which causes occurrence of alloying and melting reactions at the contact surface to start their melting, by which the heat of melting as well as the heat of reaction is generated so that the melting of these metals is accelerated to carry out alloying. It is preferable that the temp. of the above alloying is lower than the respective melting points of the metals and alloys and also its lower limit is higher than the melting point of an alloy produced by the alloying. In this way, the alloying is carried out at low temp., so that the contamination of the alloy with metallic impurities caused by the reduction of furnace wall is inhibited to produce the high purity alloy and also refractory damage etc., as well as heat energy necessary for alloying can be reduced.
