PURPOSE:To enable air to be applied to a brake pipe based on a command from a driver's cab of a vehicle equiped with an electrical command system by providing an interpreting device for an emergency brake command from the driver's cab of the vehicle equiped with the electrical command system, with a function that air can be applied to the brake pipe of a vehicle equiped with an air command system. CONSTITUTION:When an emergency brake command is directed from a driver's cab of a vehicle equiped with an electrical command system, an emergency command line EB is not energized. However, an electromagnetic valve 3 is switched over allowing a discharge valve 14 to be opened. This causes pressure in a brake pipe BP to be dropped permitting an emergency brake to be in operation. Meanwhile, when an emergency brake release command is directed from the driver's cab of the vehicle equiped with the electrical command system, emergency brake line EB is energized. Then, the electromagnetic valve 3 is switched over to the position as shown in the figure allowing compressed air from a pressure regulator 12 to be applied to a pilot chamber 14g of the discharge valve 14. Then, the discharge valve 14 is closed, and the compressed air from the pressure regulator 12 is applied into the brake pipe BP through valves 17 and 14 permitting the emergency brake of an air command system to be released. Simultaneously, a switch 4 is turned on allowing the emergency brake of the electrical command system to be also released.
