DEVICE FOR ADJUSTING COMPOSITION OF MOLTEN ALLOY FOR CASTING

PURPOSE:To improve the accuracy in the quality control of a molten metal compsn. and to lessen the labor required for the control operation by analyzing quickly a molten metal sample then calculating exactly, displaying and storing the adequate amt. of the scrap, etc. of the various compsns. to be added to adjust the molten metal compsn. CONSTITUTION:The sample drawn from a melting furnace, etc. is analyzed by an analyzing instrument. The result of the analysis is inputted by an electric signal to a microcomputer. The standard value of the assigned element for the intended casting alloy is preliminarily set. The standard value and the component ratio of the assigned element obtd. by the analysis are compared and the ratio of the scrap contg. the assigned element at a high ratio and the ratio of the element metal are calculated. The total amt. of the molten metal to be increased by the addition is then calculated. The calculations are made with all the assigned elements until the values within the target values are obtd. Weighing instruments for the additive materials are operated when the calculations end. The analytical values and calculated values are printed out. The manual operation of the weighing instruments and weighing of the additive materials by observing the prints are equally satisfactory. The results of the calculation are selectively stored in a storage device and are displayed on a CRT and display panel when the calculations for the amts. of the additive materials to be added end. A control chart is printed out as well in the storage device.
