PURPOSE:To increase the polishing performance and durability of the bristle member of a brush by intertwining an adhesive having a specific performance such as a film form, a tape form, a cord form, or a string form together and treating the material by heating. CONSTITUTION:When intertwining synthetic mono-filaments A containing abrasive grains, the single threads of the mono-filament A are fixed to each other due to adhesive layers C formed by intertwining a film-form, tape-form, cord- form or string-form adhesive made of a synthetic resin having a lower melting point than that of said mono-filament material together and, then, treating it by heating, to form a twined line for a bristle member for a brush. At the time of polishing operation, the adhesive layer C on the end of the bristle member which is brought into contact with the surface of an object to be polished, is separated off dividing the bristle into single threads, to minutely polish fine gaps, etc. of the polishing surface, providing a pretty finished surface. Further, since the single threads of a mono-filament A are joined to each other and fixed by means of the adhesive layer C, the root part of the bristle is stiff, improving durability.
