PURPOSE:To impart properties inherent in an organofluorine compound, i.e., those as a film such as friction-reducing ability, nonstickiness, stainproofness, water repellency and oil repellency to a polyurethane resin, by introducing perfluoroalkyl groups into side chains of the resin molecule. CONSTITUTION:A fluorine-containing compound (A) (e.g., formula I or II) having a perfluoroalkyl group and at least two active hydrogen atoms in the molecule is reacted with an organic diisocyanate or isophorone diisocyanate) and a fluorine-free active hydrogen-containing compound (e.g., propylene adipate or polyoxypropylene glycol). In this way, the purpose polyurethane resin having perfluoroalkyl groups in the molecular chain can be obtained. This resin is so excellent in abrasion resistance, nonstickiness, etc., that it can be suitably used as a surface coating agent, paint, binder for magnetic recording media or the like.
