PURPOSE:To obtain an on board ship clew falling detecting system by providing a radio transmitter carried by a clew and a radio receiver receiving a radio wave sent from the portable radio transmitter, detecting the intermission of the transmitted radio wave for a prescribed time and sending the detected signal. CONSTITUTION:A master station 1 is arranged on a ship 4, a clew 3 carries a slave station 2 and the radio wave sent from the slave station 2 is received by the master station 1 while the clew 3 is working on board. A discrimination logic circuit 108 of the master station 1 detects that the radio wave sent from the slave station 2 is received by the master station 1. If the clew falls overboard into sea, the radio wave sent from the slave station 2 does not reach the master station 1 and the circuit 108 detects always that the radio wave from the slave station is intermitted. Thus, it is detected that the clew carrying the slave station falls overboard into sea, and the detection signal executes a countermeasure automatically such as raising an alarm or stopping the engine.
