PURPOSE:To increase the life of a grinding wheel without lowering grinding accuracy by providing means of integrating the machining allowance of a workpiece and controlling a dressing quantity in accordance with the integrated value. CONSTITUTION:The inside diameter or outside diameter of a workpiece is detected by a work sensor 62, and the machining allowance, or the machining part of the workpiece is integrated from the detected value through a machining allowance integrating means 63. The smaller the integrated machining-allowance integrated value is, the smaller the dressing quantity is made by a dressing quantity correcting signal, which is outputted to a dressing quantity control means 61 through a dressing quantity correcting means 64. Based on this dressing quantity correcting signal, when the machining-allowance integrated value is large, a grinding wheel is dressed at a large dressing quantity as much by means of a grinding device 1, totally eliminating the damage of the grinding wheel and restoring a defined cutting quality. On the contrary, when the integrated value of machining allowance is small, the grinding wheel is dressed at a small dressing quantity, to dress the wheel to a required extent, thereby, increasing its life as much. |
