PURPOSE:To measure traffic in a network by providing a counter means counting number of token information passing within a prescribed time and a means calculating the traffic of the network depending on the count. CONSTITUTION:When token information is received as a reception data and a data to be sent exists, the data is read from a transmission buffer 10 in a main control section 8 and the transmission data is sent to a transmission line 1 through a transmission section 11 in a format. A token count section 6 in the main control section 8 reads the count of the token information at each unit time, and a difference operatingsection 7 takes a difference of the count before and after to obtain the quantity of passing of the token information per unit time. A reciprocal operating section 14 calculates a reciprocal from the passing quantity of the token information obtained by the section 7 and stored in a reciprocal storage section 15. The main control section 8 fetches a numeral stored in the reciprocal storage section 15 and the result is displayed on a display section 12 as a traffic. Thus, the quantity of traffic in the network and the transition of the traffic are grasped.
