PURPOSE:To form an electrophotographic sensitive body practicably superior in sensitivity and durability by incorporating a specified azo pigment in a photosensitive layer. CONSTITUTION:The photosensitive layer contains the azo pigment represented by formula I in which R is alkyl, aralkyl, aryl, or acyl each optionally substd.; Ar1, Ar2, Ar3, Ar4 are each an optionally substd. arylene or heterocyclic group; A is a coupler residue having a phenolic OH group; and n is 0 or 1. This pigment is typified by formula II, thus permitting one or both of carrier generating efficiency and carrier transfer efficiency to be improved, sensitivity to be enhanced, potential stability to be ensured during use for a long period, and consequently, a stable beautiful image to be obtained independent of its use history.
