PURPOSE:To pickup easily an indicated shape in a short time and to pickup properly a desired shape by deciding a representative point at every shape and picking up the shape having the representative point nearest to the indication point. CONSTITUTION:According to an indication from an input device 102d, a processor 102b requests data base information relating to the prescribed graphic with respect to a host 101a. Thus data base information indicated from a memory 101b is transmitted to a display side, converted into a CRT display data and stored in a segment memory 102c. A processor 102e displays the graphic on a CRT 102f. After displaying the graphic, a point in the vicinity of the representative point of the shape is indicated through a cursor in order to pickup and correct the prescribed shape. As a result the desired shape is picked up.
